PERFORMANCE > FLAGS

The FLAGS project is a mobile strand of prayer flags intended to offer blessings of goodwill while practicing walking meditation. Performed in downtown Madison, WI, 2008, participants wore T-shirts printed with the graphic and colors of traditional Tibetan prayer flags. By mobilizing the prayer flag, as opposed to hanging a strand in a fixed environment, the concept of sending offerings of goodwill and compassion into the wind is made physical and personal by the wearers. Sponsored by the Madison Arts Commission's BLINK Temporary Public Art program.
